Senior Electrical Engineer
Compact Particle Acceleration Corporation (CPAC) is a start-up company focused on the development of the dielectric-wall accelerator (DWA) and its application to particle therapy and other fields of use. DWA technology will form the basis of a compact, high-gradient particle accelerator that is anticipated to be used in medical, security and defense applications.
CPAC collaborates with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) to optimize the DWA for particle therapy and other applications. CPAC will also work with other commercial partners to develop the DWA for non-medical applications.
Job Description:
We are looking for a talented electrical engineer to join our team and contribute in the area of electrical and electronics development and subsystem integration. The ideal candidate would be a highly motivated contributor that has the knowledge, vision and initiative to provide technical leadership on assigned projects.
Job functions would include:
- Design, test, troubleshoot, and integrate digital, analog circuit boards and subsystems.
- Design instrumentation and cabling in a high EMI / electrical noise environment.
- Design and test high voltage circuits and subsystems.
- Participate in the integration process by collaborating with Scientists and other Engineers.
- Write technical documentation to support manufacturing and servicing of Electrical designs.
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
- 5+ years experience in digital, analog circuit design, high voltage and power.
- Use of electrical / electronic simulation software and lab software such as LabView
- Experience in all aspects of product development from concept to release & manufacturing
- Working knowledge of distributed or bus I/O systems
- Expertise in electrical / EMI noise issue resolution and circuit / instrumentation isolation.
- Hands on lab experience in building and testing control and instrumentation circuits
- Knowledge of safety interlock design, power distribution and cabling.
- Familiarity with PCB development process and tools
- Ability to define and develop test methodologies and test plans to verify designs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in medical device industry a plus
- FDA-regulated Electrical / Electronic development process
- Capital equipment control systems development
- RF High Voltage System design, analysis and Circuit Design/Analysis Tools
- FPGA , firmware development, PLC development
