Test and Verification Engineer
Compact Particle Acceleration Corporation (CPAC) is a start-up company focused on the development of the dielectric-wall accelerator (DWA) and its application to particle therapy and other fields of use. DWA technology will form the basis of a compact, high-gradient particle accelerator that is anticipated to be used in medical, security and defense applications.
CPAC collaborates with TomoTherapy and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) to optimize the DWA for particle therapy and other applications. CPAC will also work with other commercial partners to develop the DWA for non-medical applications.
CPAC has an opening for a Test and Product Verification Engineer with broad background in complex electromechanical systems to assume responsibility for module, subsystem and system verification test with primary goal to assure designs meet requirements by using test and evaluation methods to assess performance and reliability of our products. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Participate in engineering requirement reviews and develop test and verification requirements
- Design of experiments to validate system specifications and establish performance metrics
- Test fixture design, development, and refinement for components and sub-systems
- Test procedure development, test plan preparation and maintenance
- Test conduct and test report
- Organize and lead the development of overall program test plans for tests to be performed at suppliers or field facilities, and the test procedures to be followed. Supervise the performance and /or monitoring of the test activity to verify compliance with established plans, requirements and procedures, and to ensure system integrity and readiness.
Qualifications:
- BSEE or equivalent related engineering degree
- 10+ years of directly applicable system test experience with large capital equipment, preferably medical systems, is necessary
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in design of experiments, complex system integration and verification, with good engineering intuition at the system and subsystem level for complex instrumentation products
- Background knowledge of digital design, RF design, mechanical design, and network design is essential.
- Experience in test requirements management, verification methodology determination and trace back to original customer requirements is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience using multiple pieces of lab equipment and ability to determine which measurement tools are appropriate to verify each of the requirements. Must be familiar with spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, frequency generators, etc. Experience designing special test equipment is a plus.
- Expert on lab capabilities with respect to software, data acquisition, and system controls, and configurations. Preference will be given to candidates with LabView experience.
- The qualified candidate should be skilled in the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, Requisite Pro, or similar tools.
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively in a diverse team environment, and make effective presentations.
- Ability to work both independently in a goal-oriented environment, and in a large multidisciplinary group; able to balance short term deliverables with long term objectives.
- Must be able to provide concrete evidence of initiative, self motivation, outstanding work ethic, and ownership.
